Remembrance Service and Parade

Remembrance Service and Parade

The Town Council and Churches together in Darley Dale are holding the Remembrance Service and Parade at the War Memorial in the Whitworth Park.

The Parade leaves the bottom of Broadwalk at 2.40pm and the Service commences at 3.00pm.

The Service will commemorate the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women involved in the two World Wars and later conflicts.

Fireworks at the Whitworth Park

Fireworks at the Whitworth Park

Thank you to everyone who attended and volunteered at the annual Whitworth Centre Fireworks spectacular at the Whitworth Park on 2nd November.

The feedback has been very good which is important as the event represents a major fundraising occasion for the Whitworth Cenrtre which is an important Charity to ourselves at the centre of our community.

Silent Soldier Ceremony-"Remembrance 100"

Silent Soldier Ceremony-"Remembrance 100"

A Silent Soldier ceremony will take place at 4pm on Sunday 5 August, below the terrace in the Whitworth Park, by the 'Silent Soldier' silhouette purchased by the Darley in Dale Bloom group. The Revd. Stephen Monk from St Helen's church will conduct a short service as part of the 100 day period of prayer, peace and reconciliation, from 4 August to Armistice Day.

Twinning Visit to Onzain

Twinning Visit to Onzain

The Twinning visit to Onzain occurred on June 15th -17th. The Mayor had arranged for the Chairman of the Twinning group to present a wooden cheeseboard to the Mayor of Onzain on behalf of the Town Council. The wood and carving which included the words," In Friendship" were kindly provided free of charge by local company Ashton and Colman.

Public Toilets

Derbyshire Dales District Council are recommending the closure of the public toilets in Darley Dale

They have a consultation questionnaire on line at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/8MD8ZYX

(you have to work through the pages until you get to Darley Dale as they are consulting on the closure of many toilet blocks across the area.)
