Darley Dale boasts about 20 miles of public footpaths, which take in some beautiful scenery including several woodland walks. The Town Council employs a part-time footpath's person to help keep the paths clear. Other maintenance work is carried out with the kind assistance of the Derbyshire Dales Ramblers' Association. The Association is currently preparing several 'Millennium Walks' leaflets. There is also a printed 'Whitworth Trail' which takes in places of interest associated with Sir Joseph Whitworth.

For further information on walking in Darley Dale, contact Charles Wildgoose, Secretary of the Derbyshire Dales Ramblers' on 01629 733198 or email wildgoose@zetnet.co.uk
